TAQALA, K. [370]
Inspected by Penny Wilson for the Delta Survey, 2005: This site has been released by the SCA and is currently being developed with the construction of a waste water processing plant and sewage farm, a school and a civic rubbish dump. Originally the land covered 25 acres (according to local information). It seems to have been a low sandy mound and a few sherds were visible on the surface. In an area where a bulldozer had excavated a deep trench, the excavated sandy soil contained a large amount of pottery dating to the Roman period. There did not seem to be any evidence for structures, but it seemed to have some potential, especially as it is near the Bisintawy area.
Photographs from a larger collection taken by Penny Wilson in 2005. Copies of the others are kept at the EES London office.
