Marked as huge mound on the SoE 1:50000 1908 map. In 1913 east part destroyed by sebbakhin, in some areas walls were still in place. Site of rectangular enclosure of 4 km of pharaonic brick with Roman,Coptic and Arabic rebuilding. West part village and cemetery with two vats of limestone poorly quarried. Cemetery in north. Enclosure wall largely composed of earth-fill casemate. Two areas of ruins according to the Description map. Finds: Block of Ramesses II; fragments of Saite tomb from sebakh. Additional references
