Amsterdam University survey of 1984 reported the tell had been levelled and covered by village of El-Semek, by which name the mound is now also known. Formerly an extension of Tell Muftah, located 400m to the NE. Pair of limestone jambs found in 1966 by SCA now buried and location lost. Unpublished SCA report of 1966 says these were found lying 60cm apart, both oriented N-S. Sherds of LP and Roman date.
