DAI tests in 1983, single core at foot of tell produced no information as to date of foundation. The archaeological mound is situated in the middle of the village, partly overbuilt by houses and modern tombs. Vaulted structures visible in the edges of the mound. Sherds collected included a 7th-8th century AD painted bowl and other fragments of similar date. SCA inspectors reported in 1990 that new building on the mound had been forbidden prior to clearing for excavation by SCA.
