University survey reported part of the site had been levelled and the rest
overbuilt by village of Ezba Nicola Saluka. Limestone lintel of Ramesses
II found by villagers in 1965. SCA report by Hamdi Yusef 1967 records two
more pieces of granodiorite with cartouches of Ramesses II, from a statue-pedestal.
Present location of blocks unknown. The lintel was unearthed in 1984/5
and the inscription published (Brink, op. cit., 16). Sherds from the site
were NK, Saite and Roman; it is suspected the lintel was brought from Qantir. |
