NAKHLA, T. [374]
Visited by Penny Wilson in 2004, who reported as follows: This seems to have been an extensive site but it has now almost completely vanished. A village and cemetery overlie the most prominent high spots or mounds at the site, approximately 4m and 3.5m high. Lower areas are used for a football pitch and animal rearing. This area was the richest in sherds and the local ghafirs indicated that the area beyond here was the site of archaeological material, mostly pottery sherds. There was also a lake filled with brackish water to the north-east which may have been connected to the removal of sebakh and earth from the site.
The dimensions of the site are about 320 by 300m, but this may not be the true extent of the village or the material here.
