MUTUBIS, K. [234]
Also known as Kom el-Ahmar. Visited in 1990 by J and P Spencer: huge mound, half removed by sebakh-railway in past, size given here is of the surviving part. Low area of removed section has GR limestone coffins lying in the ground, with GR sherds. Fired brick features protrude from cut edge of mound. Top of mound covered by thin vegetation, but Late Roman sherds and Islamic coin seen. Visited again by Snape 1996; mapped by P Wilson for EES in 2001-2 and drill-cores taken. ![]()
