Visited 1990 by J and P Spencer: Large and high mound with undisturbed deposits in which outlines of mud brick buildings and street show clearly. Roman sherds, glass, fragments of calcite and fired bricks on surface. Also granite millstone and another granite block. Small modern cemetery on E end, by the road. Portions of site occupied by disused military buildings. Identified as Pachnemounis by Hogarth, who published some Greek texts. Hogarth says core of mound is 'solid Nile mud, heaped up to raise the settlement'.

Visited by Penny Wilson in 2004, who reported additionally as follows:
A large site, divided in two with a cemetery on one side and an abandoned military base on the other. Aside from this the tell is relatively untouched and there are good portions of it which could be explored further. The surface was covered in pottery and red brick.
