| Visited
by Penny Wilson for the Delta Survey in 2004, who reported as follows:
The site is situated upon a limestone outcrop up to 4m high at the edge of the northern limestone formation. Most of it is densely covered by a modern cemetery, amongst which some pottery can be found. If there were any ancient structures here, they must have long since vanished. The rock has some steep, almost sheer sides and would have been a strategic point with good views across the fields on all sides. The dimensions of the rock are: 150m (east-west) by 200m (north-south) and it is surrounded on most sides by the village, to the north by a new sports centre and on the north-west by fields. Some mud brick temporary animal huts were being built on the lower southern slopes, so the whole mound has been taken over by the village. The pottery consisted of fine wares and amphorae. |
