is located approximately 16km SSE of Tell el Moqdam and was visted by Friedman
and Buck in 1992. It is close to the main highway between Zagazig and Cairo,
and about 1 km south of the village of Zankalun. At the time of the visit
in June 1992 the tell consisted of a small area about 20 meters in diameter,
which was in the process of being scraped away by a tractor to prepare
a field for rice cultivation. The villagers told the investigators that
in the past the site had been about 2 feddans in area and that they often
found sherds at depth when digging irrigation canals. Hellenistic pottery
was abundant in the freshly scraped surface and excavated ground. |
