FARUN, T. [187]
The site of the ancient city of Imet consists of three areas: the temple site, the town, and the cemetery. Much of temple area clear, but more new buildings were under construction on the mound. The naos of the small temple, photographed by Petrie relatively intact, is now reduced to a few fragments of granite. The Late Period cemetery is overbuilt by Husseiniya town: THIP graves being excavated by SCA in 1980s. Earlier work in 1960-2 by I M Kamal. Lintel of Ramessesnakht found 1965: Or 35, 134. Pottery from 17th season of SCA work in Bull GIECE 13. Archaic graves found by M Mussalami 1964-76. SCA work in 1978 to 1983 found burials of MK, NK and LP. Summary of SCA seasons down to 1983/4 with outline of results: remains from Archaic to GR, together with a report on 1985/6 seasons with finding of some Saite tombs, in I A Mostafa reference below.
