Visited 1997 by J and P Spencer. Sandy tell with fired brick structures of Late Roman - Coptic age. Many coins said to have been found. North part of site cut by development of New Damietta, but remainder protected following action by SCA Chief Inspector Atef el-Badry Abu el-Dahap. Cultivation and fish-farms encroaching from the south and west. Roman limestone coffins found in the sandy environs of the site. Highest part at S, with low-lying areas to three sides, especially to N, with pools of salt water. Late Roman sherds and glass. SCA excavations planned for 1998. Access by Damietta Port road off main Shirbin-Damietta highway, then to left over a small bridge, marked (in 1997) by a large green direction arrow.
