ARANIB, T. EL- [439] also called Irani
Now called Kom Irani by local villagers, but Araneb in SCA register and Aranib on SoE 1:100,000 (1916) map. Perhaps the same as Kom el-Amria on 1900/1909/1910 survey maps (1:50 000 series, sheet 50 Hosh Isa); El-Amria is a sizeable village just north of this location, but not on 1993 maps. Presently a village founded on a very low mound elevated above surrounding fields. No pottery visible on surface, a small section at northern edge of town did exhibit several body sherds and an amphora-handle.
