GR cemetery site. Liverpool University Survey 1985-6: cemetery of sacred bulls of Horbeit, site levelled and covered by village, partly dug by A. Abdel Salam in 1937. A few bull sarcophagi remain, partly covered by accumulated dirt. One is being used as a work-bench. Hawk cemetery found 1994-96 by Hisham el-Hefnawi, according to press reports, with burials in small limestone coffins within mud-brick tombs. Dated to Dyn. 30 or Ptolemaic. Hisham Mohamed Abdel Moamen reported on SCA work in 2003, during which limestone coffins were found iamong the houses.
