Position
noted only as 'Tell 1' on unpublished sketch-map by Petrie 1885 (inserted
into the copy of Petrie, Tanis I, at the Edwards Library, University
College London). Described by Petrie as a small tell, all Late Roman
on the surface and covered with broken red bricks. This mound is distinct
from the other Tell Zuwelen, situated north of Gumaiyemi (here No. 324).
Amsterdam University survey 1984-5 reported the site being used for brickmaking,
with clay extracted from deep pits of 20 x 20 x 3-5m, but no settlement
material appears in the sections. Late Period, Ptolemaic and Roman sherds
noted. Satellite images from 2007 show the remains of the mound cut into
separate portions by new fields. To view in Google EarthTM,
