Tell Matyur

Archaeological site of Roman Period. The mound rises 6 to 8m. above the fields. Included in a 1983 survey by the German Archaeological Institute, Late Roman - Byzantine pottery noted. See P. The pattern of marks visible on the image are test-trenches cut round the edges of the site by the Supreme Council for Antiquities of Egypt [SCA] prior to releasing the land for development.
