594 Amsterdam University survey 1984-5: site partly levelled. Being investigated by a team led by B. Midant-Reynes since 2006. Tests show layers of the Lower Egyptian Predynastic culture, overbuilt by a sequence from Nagada IIIC2 to the 3rd dynasty. Also some Hyksos occupation, and late Roman pottery in the upper layers. The gezira has been traced by drill cores as far as Tell el-Abbasiya, 600m to the south-west. To view in Google EarthTM, click the logo  SCA Sharqiya register 13120033, under name T. al Abbasiyyah. The SCA list combines this site with T. Abbassiya (our 593) and gives coordinates between the two mounds.
